In a pinch with a Motherboard with No Wifi
Speeds vary, you have to play around with the USB ports on your system to see which takes. At times I was getting 180 mbs down, other times it would slow down to 20 mbs. Wifi is wifi, save yourself the trouble and get an ethernet line. For streaming or video calling it, it’s fine.

I bought the TP-Link AC1900 USB WiFi Adapter to increase the bandwidth on a computer located in a low reception area of our house. By being able to place the external adapter higher and "aim" it, it increased the bandwidth from about 25 mb/s to about 110 mb/s. I definitely recommend this adapter.
An inexpensive upgrade to an old computer
Inexpensive easy to install. You have to figure out how to disable your current wireless card not too hard. I used on an old PC that is some distance from my router. I did not want to bother to upgrade the internal wireless card. I wanted to take advantage of the 5 MHz signal.
