I own mechanical keyboards that are 2x-3x the price of the Omen Encoder with Cherry MX red (linear) key switches, and the Encoder is still my favorite keyboard. I use it in a general office setting, more so for normal typing than for gaming, and it works great.
I loved the look and feel. It was noisy but was very responsive. HOWEVER, the lights were too bright and the customization feature did not function on my PC. I down loaded the driver and software to support the customization but the system didn't recognize either.
I was looking for something that feels like the near legendary IBM terminal keyboard. I've been touch typing for over 60 years and the IBM is my gold standard. This is close enough to satisfy me. The LED lighting is an annoyance, likewise the different color of the WASD keys.
The HP keyboard that came with my Omen 25L was pretty lame for gaming, so I purchased this keyboard. What a difference! Plugged it in to the PC, software installed itself (a beta lighting program) and it was ready to go. Nice match for the Omen PC series. Keys are made for gaming.
All good. Really. Flaws: a) the red. red is not a good color that contrasts with the black keys. I don't know why this one was made red only. b) (video) the 3 LEDs indicating capslock and others, are TOO CLOSE to the keyboard, so you basically cant see them.
