Great Upgrade to My Previous Model
I had an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227 fdw for the past 5 years where the display suddenly went black and wouldn't ever come back on. I will probably take it in and get this fixed at some point but I needed a new printer immediately for my business.

HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M4fdw
I adore my Laser printer!! It is lightening fast. I use the top feed for double sided copies. I got the laser printer that prints black only. I just do not use color and felt it was a waste. The paper loads easily and the instructions were very clear on set up.

MFP Works Great - HP Smart Software Glitchy
This is a very good printer, scanner but don't use the fax much anymore. I would have rated the MFP excellent but periodically the printer goes offline for no apparent reason. The HP Smart Software is comprehensive but the downside is you're forced to sign up with HP to get all of the MFP operations...

Not as good as previous HP
It is much noisier than the previous versions of this printer. That said, it seems to work fine. The other annoyance is HP is chipping their cartridges making using 3rd party toner more difficult. I would have bought something else had I known all of this.

wired vs wireless
the printer and scanner work great. If you want all the wireless features then the software recommended is fine. However if you want to have a wired printer it is more complicated to find the software and get it installed.
