I bought this drive to backup photos on the go when I usually only have a mobile device, and to transfer them to my computer when I get back. To test, I copied a 350MB archive of pictures from my iPad, tested the archive on my Android phone, and then copied to my computer which worked straight from the box. The drive comes formatted as FAT32, and the copy speed from the drive to my PC was a sustained 33MB/s.
I have had a lot of USB drives over the years but this one is the best I own. Its fast, it works on both the older USB connector and also have the newer one. So no matter what machine I need to move data from, it works. Go get one and enjoy a drive that works well. 256GB is plenty for almost any requirement you have, I move a lot of videos from recorded church services and having a drive with that much space is perfect for what I need.
Bought a 64G drive to make a recovery drive for my new Mac. Can’t even get an OS installed on it. Drive warms up quickly and throttles down to a crawl, 90 minutes later and the process crashed out. Very disappointing. Can’t recommend these at all.

Returned. Too tiny. I would lose it.
