Excellent replacement for very old scanner
Works better than my 20 year old HP scanner ever thought about working. Quiet, very clean copies and can (most of the time) create a searchable PDF document. When turned on after a long down time, you have to wait 2-3 minutes before the accompanying software can find the scanner. Longer than the old scanner took to warm up the lamp. Don't get in hurry. It is worth the wait.
Good basic scanner
I like this. It works well with a Mac Book Pro. I'm scanning documents for filing or to email after signature. Nothing complicated or requiring high resolution. Only downside is that it isn't wireless.
For a "pro" model, it leaves a lot to be desired.
This is billed as a "pro model" scanner. I'm in the middle of an extensive project and if I had the time, I'd throw this one against the wall and buy another brand. I've usually had good experiences with HP products but this isn't up to that "usual" level. Scanning even ONE sheet through the feed tray is a completely "hit or miss" experience. I took 2 sheets that were IDENTICAL, with very little wear and one fed easily, the other didn't even with prompting.
Great for documents, poor for photos.
The scanner is nice and very fast. It scans documents very well but the quality is disappointing if there are photos on the page. The photos are very grainy, even with the higher dpi.
Easy to use +
I have scanned thousands of copies since my purchase. I have had no devastating problems to date. For those who may be experiencing pickup problems, if you get used to the rhythm you will easily know when a sheet has not been picked up. When this happens I quickly give the sheet a gentle push. The software that comes with it is excellent. Best little scanner I have owned. A real hard worker and fast.
