Nice until it naps
Great printer, fast, fairly quiet, good looking pages. My only problem is that it sometimes doesn't want to wake up after it goes to sleep. Most of the time it will wake up and print after a warmup period, but every once in a while, it won't and I'll have to have a program print again. Minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.
Decent printer, quirky.
I admit, I had a mess of a time getting this printer working. First of all, I have a MAC computer, so I had to go online and download stuff to get this thing working at all. I ended up giving up on that altogether and tested it on my Windows. It prints very nice copies, the scanner works great. It's not silent by any means but it's not as loud as those printers from the 80's :) My issues with it really came after a few pages of testing.
For those who say it jams on setup
For those reviews that say the printer jams right after setting it up, it could be because you didn't remove all the plastic orange pieces from inside. There's one long orange rectangular piece directly behind where the toner cartridge goes, it looks like it's a part of the printer and it's not obvious from the setup diagrams that it needs to be removed.
Linux Ubuntu 12.04.03 LTS x64 WORKS!!!!
Start NO PROBLEM works with LINUX Ubuntu 12.04.03 LTS x64. Downloading drivers from here [...] or [...] It is an archive Linux_UFRII_PrinterDriver_V270_us_EN...Unpack it and find files for your Linux system (deb -file if you use Debian -base system or RPM -files ) read carefully readme files (in HTML -format). good luck!
Nice multi function machine, good for light and medium office work
Replaced a brother HL-2240 that I never ever liked despite its good reviews. I've found this printer has none of the initial lag of the Brother when firing up a print job. Only complaint is that the software on the website is garbage and had to install via the disk after getting frustrated with the too automated (couldn't even change the directory it was unpacking to) downloaded software.
